La vie et la mort

Another 8 x 8 inches painting finished today. I think I need to venture to a bigger painting again, just to mix it up. Quite excited by the next one. Will post more when I get started!

I just had to share these images I took of the most amazing hydrangeas that I got yesterday! The colours are just so varied and beautiful.

From start to finish

Completed another smaller painting today, 8x8 inches. I was taking photos along the way to show the painting evolve from start to finish.

Think I'm getting better at painting eyes. I'm quite happy with the way this one turned out, especially like that this is diamond shaped.

This is another one from the Phases de la lune series called "Passionflower".

It's been up for a little while, but I just thought I should mention that I now have a shop on Society6.com where some of my work is available in varying print sizes and even iphone cases!

Life, death and everything inbetween

It was great to work on a smaller scale again, and I was quite surprised that I managed to complete it in one day. I've got to say I really enjoyed painting a skull for the first time. I'm sure there are going to many more to follow this one!

Wonder at the blue moon

Today, when I did finally get to business painting, I managed to complete a second large painting for my "Phases de la lune" series, called "Wonder".

This one features a little homage to Dali, with the ants that are featured on the hand. Dali often used ants in his paintings as a symbol for death. So it seems only fitting to incorporate them into a piece that symbolises our fragile emotion states and the cycle of life and death and the moon with it's eternal cycling of concealments and revealments through it's varying light and shadows.

Hydrangeas having a few symbolic meanings, and no-one can agree on just one, but I've chosen to use the heartfelt meaning in this painting.
