The blue moon

Made quite a bit of progress today on the next of my "Phases de la lune" series. Just love all the shades of blue and lilac in the hydrangeas. These flowers bring back memories of childhood and the eyes of the female are large and childlike with wonder and awe.

Phases de la lune

It's Australia Day today and it's yet another day of rain, tea, candles burning and painting!

Starting a new one today, but I thought I'd share the last one that I just finished last night. The first large one in my "Phases de la lune" series, which I've entitle Hysteria. I like the extreme landscape of this painting, it's not a size I've done previously. The large Night Blooming Cactus was particularly fun to paint!

Painting day, new moon

Woke up this morning to the sound of the pouring rain, which makes it just the most perfect day for painting, and plenty of tea breaks!

I'm continuing with the moon theme, as I have a whole series revolving around it and the way it can effect our emotional states. I'll probably be going on about the moon for quite some time I imagine, as I have a lot of works already planned.

Started on this today, 12 x 24 inches. Here's a detail.

La lune

Starting on my brand new series with a small piece to start with. After working on so many large works recently, it was nice to go back to to something small.

New year, new ideas and series

The new year is here, and I've just completed my diptych, Duality of the mind. It's my homage to Bowie, and one of music's most iconic images, the album cover for 'Aladdine Sane'.

" This "schizophrenia," as Bowie describes it, is conveyed on the cover of Aladdin Sane by his glitter makeup: A lightning bolt bisects the singer's face. (Bowie, however, would later tell friends that the "lad insane" of the album's title track was inspired by his brother Terry, who had been diagnosed as a schizophrenic.)

Here are some images and details of the pair.

I have lots of ideas for a new series about the moon that I can't wait to start. It's almost I have too many ideas and I want to paint then all at once!
